Indonesia's Critical Mineral
In Indonesia, the world’s nickel superpower, the green transition fuels a new extraction boom—raising hard questions about power, profit, foreign capital, and the human cost.
Far removed from the tony beaches of Miami’s south coast, Liberty City was created in the 1930s as a segregated neighborhood for Miami’s African American residents. The remains of the segregation wall still exist, running down 12th Avenue. The Liberty City documentary focuses on community-led efforts to rebuild civil society in inner-city Miami. The film follows a group of local teenagers as they attempt to build a public monument on the segregation wall, whose meaning had been forgotten by many.
The film embeds with the Circle of Brotherhood, a group of men on a mission to rectify the problems in their community, and rolls with a Miami City police officer, born and raised in Liberty City, who now patrols the neighborhood and grapples with life as an African American police officer. This is part two of the three-part documentary Swing State Florida.
